Plumas County I've monitored a little bit but not deep. I've only monitored the county fire when I camp up at Almanor. Most of the population is either around Chester and Lake Almanor, or Quincy area. One thing to note about Plumas and the Susanville CHP jurisdiction is the new Mobile Extendor frequency of 153.935. This was made because the previous freq was taken over by the powerful Nevada State VHF trunked system. Also, the famous 154.905 freq is interfered with yet another user in the area. A very nice place to stay and monitor Plumas County are the campgrounds west of Lake Almanor. From the side of the refreshing lake, you can monitor CDF for Tehama, Shasta, Lassen/Modoc and Butte counties. You can monitor Plumas and Lassen USFS and the Lassen Volcanic National Park. To top the fire monitoring experience, the Chester Air Attack Base unleashes their tankers right over the campground during fire ops - forget those afternoon naps and don't forget the camera. Railroad monitoring is great although I can't recall if Feather River Cyn can be monitored from there. The Almanor line into Susanville can be seen across the lake. Law enforcement isn't the best to monitor, but you can get enough to tickle your fancy, if that's your fancy. Listening to the Sheriff's 600 units you can catch up on all the marine law enforcement on Lake Almanor. I believe they have 3 boats on patrol at times on the Lake during high recreation. |
