UP 5667, a model B40-8 (an old Southern Pacific engine repainted in UP colors) approaching the Hooker crossing in Tehama County. Milepost 232.4
Note the small concrete building just in front of the engine with a cone roof. That was the old telegraph shelter for Hooker. Kinda like a payphone back in the day. The trains would stop and check in on the telegraph for any direction.
