March 10th, 2004Welcome to the new Shasta/Tehama County ARES website. In late December of 2003, Tehama and Shasta Counties combined their ARES teams into one large team under the direction of the newly appointed EC Al Peņa, KQ6YW. Within weeks a strong leadership team of AECs was established and numerous local amateurs joined the new emergency communications force.
This website is a work-in-progress as it gets rolling to provide all the resources needed to support the members of STARES. There are direct links to ARRL resources, as well as local resources and news. By April's monthly mtg this site should fully established.
Some things to come soon will be complete instructions with screen shots and hints/tips to signing up for the STARES Yahoo Group e-mail list. I will also try to upload or link to various manuals for popular VHF/UHF radios most likely used in EMCOMM work. If all goes well, a calendar of "planned" events will be here shortly to allow us to plan for what's happening ahead. Thanks and keep checking back!
